Orange County Plastic Surgeon Revisits The Aesthetic Cruise 2013
Dr. Daniel Mills attended The Aesthetic Cruise 2013 as a moderator, lecturer, and participant in collaborative discussions pertaining to complications in aesthetic surgery.
Laguna Beach, CA — Hosted by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), The Aesthetic Cruise is an educational trip intended to promote discussion and collaborative problem-solving among some of the leading minds in plastic and reconstructive surgery. Traveling northbound to Alaska, The Aesthetic Cruise 2013 centered around complications in aesthetic surgery and consisted of several lectures and panel discussions involving breast surgery, facial rejuvenation, marketing strategies, and a variety of other topics.
As a well-respected plastic surgeon, Dr. Daniel Mills of the Aesthetic Plastic Surgical Institute in Orange County was invited to be a moderator and lecturer on several panels throughout the cruise. The two panels on which he was a moderator, followed by his three lecture topics, included:
- Marketing the Aesthetic Surgery Practice
- Management of Complications in Non-Surgical Facial Rejuvenation
- Management of Difficult Cases in Facial Rejuvenation
- Management of Wrinkling in Breast Augmentation
- Management of Complications in Augmentation Mastopexy
In his recent blog post titled “My Take on The Aesthetic Cruise 2013,” Dr. Mills notes that his main goal as a moderator was to “facilitate questions and direct a bit of controversy toward speakers in order to spark stimulating conversation and collaborative group thinking.” Regarding his lectures, he highlights particular points he touched upon, such as his technique for avoiding implant bubbling during breast augmentation procedures as well as alternative solutions for eluding issues that may arise during difficult facelift cases.
In addition to lecturing and moderating panels, Dr. Mills also took advantage of his opportunity to listen and learn from his medical peers. In the blog, he mentions his interest in workshop sessions regarding techniques for helping surgeons avoid certain complications associated with gummy bear implants. Additionally, he says he was “particularly intrigued by discussions relating to which injectables can be utilized to avoid different facial rejuvenation complications, and what surgeons can do to potentially reverse these possible issues.”
In the end, Dr. Mills says the cruise was very beneficial and he believes the knowledge he gained will help him to increase the quality of care he is able provide for his patients. Concerning the collaborative style environment of the cruise, he notes that it “proved to be a very effective technique for producing several practical solutions that can be used for a number of common aesthetic surgery complications.”
